Why Bisglycinate?
Magnesium bisglycinate binds magnesium with glycine, forming a chelated mineral designed to support absorption while remaining gentle on the gastrointestinal tract.
Designed for Absorption
Not all forms of magnesium behave the same way. Magnesium bisglycinate is a chelated form in which magnesium is bound to glycine, a structure studied for its absorption and gastrointestinal tolerability.
Comparing Magnesium Forms
In an in-vitro intestinal cell model, magnesium bisglycinate demonstrated greater magnesium transport than magnesium citrate and magnesium oxide.
These findings help illustrate how the chemical form of a mineral can influence its behaviour during intestinal transport.
Studied in Humans
Magnesium bisglycinate has also been evaluated in human research, including studies examining magnesium absorption and gastrointestinal tolerance.
A Human Study of Magnesium Absorption
In a randomized, double-blind crossover study, magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium oxide were compared in individuals with impaired intestinal absorption.
Magnesium bisglycinate showed evidence of earlier absorption and was associated with better gastrointestinal tolerance in this study.
The Promise Roots Approach
We begin with the form of the mineral itself. Magnesium bisglycinate was selected for its chelated structure, studied absorption, and gastrointestinal tolerability, a considered form of an essential mineral for daily use.
